Frequently asked questions.

  • My current office is in Springfield, Missouri, at The Living Room Wellness Center. Their address is 1944 E. Sunshine St. Ste D, Springfield MO.

  • Wanting to do therapy online, also known as telehealth, can be wonderful due to its convenience and allowing you to do the emotional work of therapy from the comfort of your own home.

Online therapy is essentially the same as therapy in-person. We'll go through all the same steps of learning more about you, creating goals that excite you, and working together to create long-lasting healing. The difference is that you'll need to log onto a call through my Psychology Today Sessions room at the time of your call.

For doing therapy online, you'll need a private space where you won't be bothered by anyone and nobody can overhear you, a good internet connection, and a place where you can feel comfortable sitting up to be able to fully engage in the session. These factors are to protect your information, abide by confidentiality laws, and to give you the best experience possible!

  • Yes! In-person sessions are especially helpful if you want to do EMDR or feel like you would focus better on sessions in-person.

  • My current fee is $100 per session when not using insurance. Currently I can take Cigna and Aetna-based insurances.

  • A Good Faith Estimate (GFE) is not a bill. It is an estimation of the fees you will pay for a medical service given to you by your healthcare provider if you're not utilizing your insurance. A GFE does not account for needs to increase the cost of services over time or other unexpected considerations.

    Here's more about GFE's.

  • I recognize and honor how unpredictable life can be. You or your kids might get sick, car troubles, family emergencies, and so much more can come your way. If anything comes up that means we'll have to cancel or reschedule your session, I need to know within 72 business hours of the appointment.

Should you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment in less than 72 business hours, you will be charged the full fee of your session as a cancellation/no-show fee.

  • Think of your first session like a first date; you and the other person are getting a feel for one another. During your first session, it will be a lot of getting to know you through reviewing the intake questionnaire before the first session, learning what you're hoping to get out of therapy, answering ant questions you have about the therapy process, and creating your roadmap for therapy (i.e., your treatment plan.)

We'll also spend some time looking over my policies and the ways I do therapy to see if it's a good fit! By the end of that first session, we should be ready to get into the healing work!

  • Therapy isn't quite like a course of antibiotics in that you generally know about how long you need to take the treatment in order to get better.

How long someone spends time in therapy depends on a lot of different factors. The biggest ones include how often you have sessions, your attendance in sessions, fully participating in and out of sessions, how open and honest you are about our work together, and other factors unique to each individual person. In other words, if you come in for sessions weekly and engage fully in the treatment, you're much more likely to complete therapy earlier.

Some people also need longer-term therapy to help with longer-term issues. This doesn't say anything about you as a person - It's simply a part of the process.

If you have specific ideas on how long you would like your treatment to be, let's schedule a consultation and a first session to see what we can do to help you reach your goals!
